ReHEAT Online

Online Refresher HEAT - Online ReHEAT for travellers to high-risk destinations

In our courses, Travel&Risk places great emphasis on anchoring learning for our participants. Both in terms of how they avoid problems when traveling to high-risk areas and how they handle critical incidents during the journey. However, even professionals working in high-risk areas rarely end up in serious trouble and therefore do not use most of the mitigation or coping tools from the course. Just like fire drills are repeated year after year, a HEAT course should also be repeated at regular intervals. That's why Travel&Risk offers Refresher HEATs, which are used by many of our regular clients.

To participate in ReHEAT Online, it is a requirement to have attended a full HEAT course. The HEAT training can be with a different provider than Travel&Risk.

In Travel&Risk's ReHEAT, you will refresh your knowledge from your previous HEAT course with a focus on coping tools and critical incidents. Unlike our in-person ReHEAT, the ReHEAT Online does not include first aid training. We therefore strongly recommend combining the course with our open one-day Remote First Aid course, which focuses on providing first aid in high-risk areas.
Your course certificate will clearly indicate whether Remote First Aid Training was included, as most organizations require first aid as part of a HEAT refresher course.

A HEAT certificate from Travel&Risk does not have an expiration date, but we recommend a ReHEAT 3-6 years after a HEAT course. Some organizations require periodic updates of the HEAT certificate. A ReHEAT enhances your awareness of travel security, and parts of the training in handling critical situations are repeated in exercises where the challenges are slightly different from a HEAT course.

ReHEAT is conducted in English unless all participants are comfortable with Danish.

Structure of ReHEAT Online

INDIVIDUAL PRE-TRAINING TASK

You are tasked with investigating how travel security is managed in your organization. During the course, we will discuss different strategies for handling travel security in organizations.

7 HOURS OF ONLINE TRAINING

You and a small group of participants will receive online instruction from an experienced instructor through individual exercises, group work, and joint discussions.

FIRST AID

ReHEAT Online does not include first aid, but we strongly recommend that you also refresh your first aid skills. You can attend one of our Remote First Aid courses, specifically designed for travelers in high-risk areas. If this is not possible, feel free to contact us for guidance on alternative first aid courses with a focus on travel security.

INDIVIDUAL POST-TRAINING TASK

After the course, you will prepare a risk analysis for an upcoming trip, which we will then review together online.

TARGET AUDIENCE

You do not need to have attended a Travel&Risk HEAT course to participate in our ReHEAT. However, since the course only refreshes learning from a HEAT-course, it cannot stand on it's own. Therefore, if you have not previously completed a HEAT-course either with us or with another provider, you cannot participate in the course. You can read about our full, 3-day HEAT-course here.

Your fellow participants will typically be employed by an NGO or work as journalists, photographers, or consultants. Most participants are highly experienced travelers, so the course is also a great opportunity to exchange experiences with others who travel profesionally.
